Tales of Love and Confusion - Poetry

Poetry inspired by my own 'take on the world'.

A lament for Innocence

Who will wipe the tears from my eyes

Who will brush the rubble from my hair?

Not long in this world

Now I’m gone.

In whose eyes will shine my promise

In whose ears will ring my laughter?

Not long in this world

Now I’m gone.

Who will tease my mother

Who will annoy my father?

Not long in this world

Now I’m gone.

In which God’s name did you stop the laughter

In which God’s name did I die?

Not long in this world

Now I’m gone

Once more round the sun

Once more round the sun,

blessings for those who stood at our side

compassion for those who fell

and honour for those who are no more.

Once more round the sun,

hope for the future

love for all

and blessings surround.

Once more round the sun

Where will our journeys take us

Will we laugh together, cry alone

or be still for ever

Before we hear the words

Once more round the sun

I long for happy ever after

On the cusp of

What could have been and new beginnings

I long for a happy ever after.

Battles fought,

Battles lost, battles won

I long for a happy ever after.

My morning commute to work

to step into your embrace

my days work sharing my tears and laughter

I long for a happy ever after.

I’ve been trapped

Behind walls of possessions

I’ve been cowed by masters

I long for a happy ever after.
